Welcome to Lak'ech EcoLodge & Ranch

"It feels like home." (MT, Edmonton)

" I applaud your commitment and your passion ... you have truly created a special place. GOOD WORK!!" (Anne L, Guatemala)

Imagine a land where llamas give kisses, strawberries run wild and time does not exist.  Where water, energy and smiles are free.  Where you have freedom to find your big dream and teach others how to do the same.

Lak’ech EcoLodge and Ranch is a working permaculture farm located on 76 acres of pristine boreal forest in central Alberta.

Lak’ech EcoLodge and Ranch lives a small carbon footprint, combining sustainable living practices in harmony with nature in our kitchen and forest gardens and orchards, holistic animal husbandry and reduction and reuse of resources.  We utilize passive solar buildings, grey water collection, resource recycling (glass, metal, plastics , manure, wool fibers) and resource re-use (windows, lumber, sawdust).

"We can keep putting Band-Aids on the thing.  Or we can fix it."  (Tony Geraci)

We base our construction and gardening practices on the principles of permaculture, biodynamics and organics.  Lak’ech EcoLodge is owned and operated by the Guilbeault family.

“One question:  one answer: Cowardice asks the question - Is it safe?

Expediency asks the question - Is it politic?

Vanity asks the question - Is it popular?

But conscience asks the question- Is it right?

And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular

but one must take it because it is right.”

(Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.)
